Haha yeah that's why I own no big bars. Largest bars I have are 10 oz silver bars and 20oz Scottsdale mint kit Kat bars (I love those)
I have a few small denomination gold coins and a 1 oz 100 Corona restrike but the large majority if my gold is in jewlery that I paid spot price + 5-12% over for in terms of gold content.
My magnum opus is a 103 gram 24k necklace, that golden glow of 24k and the thickness + weight of it on my neck is something to behold.
I'm currently wearing 3 necklaces and 3 bracelets, I do wear some of my stash a lot xD
I've sold necklaces for far more than I paid, I remember buying a 25 inch 14k rope chain for $450 and flipped it for $620 a week later. But I hate selling my stash because whenever I sell I immediately feel the need to replace what I sold xD
Also, a cool comparison of 10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, 24k

There's 2 pics there one without flash and 1 with flash
Yes, sound advice. My jewlery was all from one guy in reddit whose brother owns q jewlery store so he prices to move and tests. I test all my stuff too with scratch test.
Jewlery you can bring across borders without confiscation like you said. People, remember it was illegal to own gold bullion for a while, under FDR I believe. It was confiscated. I also brought my whole collection to woo a girl during a romantic boating date and we capsized and I lost it all.
I only have the memories that I try to live vicariously through because I haven't come to terns with my loss
Also my state charges tax on bullion but there are places you can get from that avoid it. Pm me if you are affected and want some pointers.
I was at a K-mart that was going out of business a few years ago, and they were selling all their sterling silver jewelry at a huge discount. Normally, that would put it still above spot sterling price, but they must have bought it when the price was low, because at the time this final sale was happening, it was priced below the spot price, and I could have bought everything and immediately sold it to some pawn shop. Unfortunately, I didn't have the funds to do it at the time. (I have several life stories where I've missed out on easy killings like that :) )
