It takes more energy and materials from fossil fuels to make one of these things than they'd ever produce in their lifetime.
And then when they start falling apart, even more fuel is expended just to find a way to get rid of their non-biodegradable parts.
They're a literal monument to energy debt and mass bird extinction.
An all-around scam is what it is.
Also, those blades have to be replaced from time-to-time. AND the ONLY way to do that is to take one blade down and replace it with another.
However, here is where the fallacy of the libs is FULL on display mode: The blades are chopped up into 2 or more pieces and put on a flat bed trailer. Now, the blades travel to one of 2 places in the United States...Texas & Wyoming. Once they arrive at their destination, they are cut up and BURIED with the rest of the blades.
NOTE: They CANNOT BE RECYCLED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF EXOTIC MATERIALS IN THEM...When the US Pulled OUT of Afghanistan, China will have a exotic supply of material to build these blades...
Wonder if Xiden KNEW THIS?????? YES!!!!
Also when the US was starting to put them up Europe was taking them down because they did not perform that well
The maintenance costs are ridiculous plus those things are loaded with expensive feedback controlers and high tech doodads. The giant thrust bearing the head sits on costs something ungodly. It's got to be one of the most expensive pieces of equipment you could build and get the least out of. There should be am episode of Engineering Disasters on these alone.
Yup.
All things considered, they're only cost effective if the initial goal is to kill endangered species of bird remotely.
Even then, I'd say a 12 gauge with birdshot and a team of rednecks would be more cost-effective to that end.
They've killed quite a few bald eagles, too.
