This was about 2011 or 2012, a young girl who lived on the east coast called and got me on the line. She told me that John Hinckley was getting out on weekends from his 'jail' and he was stalking her! I didn't know what to think so I kept listening. She said he came from an influential family and that she was scared to death he was going to do harm to her. This happened so many years ago I don't recall any more details of that conversation. But it's interesting and makes you wonder. And since when does someone get out of jail EVER who attempted to assassinate a US President? File this under "Things that make you say HMMMMM"?

I remember this caller was really afraid of him and she sounded believable. I had no reason to doubt her; she even thanked me for believing her. Now I wonder if that young lady is still alive.
It sounds believable to me. Mental illness doesn't just "go away" so their assertion that he's cured and no longer a threat really just sounds like bullshit to me.
Might be some symbolic thing. Either they want to compare him to Hinckley and saying they equate speaking out against the potato with attempted murder or they want to ridicule us by reminding us they tried to kill Reagan or smth. Just a theory mind.

He wasn't in jail. He was incarcerated at St. Elizabeth's in DC. It's a mental hospital. They let him out when the doctors thought he was better.
