What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Note: We have changed the title for this thread to avoid confusion with the daily Q in 3D threads.
I am in need of opinion. Not sure what to do. My job now requires the jab, because I need to be able to travel out of country. It's difficult in Mooseland, especially when I don't know my options.
Thanks all! I will remain unmovable, lest I be known as anything less than thiccus.
Why all of the sudden when everything is already not mandated?
It's stupid. Now that things are open up except the borders, they'll need me to setup our crap in other countries.
I would pray, and out-wait them as much as possible. never give in, the demons love that.
liberals Always change their minds, so their rules will change.
could you take some sick leave, so they're not seeing you everyday as a reminder.
till you make it
Taking the jab to keep a job might not work out very well if the jab causes you severe adverse events that ands up putting your health at risk and unable to keep your job anyway.
On top of that, you are rolling the dice on your life for a job that they can fire you from any day for anything even after you are jabbed.
What are your options? Can you work independently? If so, this is the best option even if it causes lot of hardships and reduces your lifestyle significantly. Telling you from experience. I went from silicon valley to backwater of the tech world for personal reasons, and spent more than a decade working really hard for myself with drastically cut down life style, and if I did not do it then, I would not have the freedom during the pandemic that I had.
Can you work in other jobs? Even if the pay is less or the work is not as sexy, it does not matter. In the end you need to keep yourself as free as possible.
Can you ask them to give you a position that does not require travelling? Even if its a lower position its still worth it.
I suppose I'll have to look for something else. Being a programmer, I think I'm going to have to do the same as you. I don't need much to be happy, though, so I'm fine for it.
I highly highly recommend this. I had so many misgivings, so much fear, and it eas against everything I had been taught and raised (work stability, good salary, settle down in life, etc), but thanks to my dear wifey, I was able to get over those fears and reaping the rewards.
I'm so sorry, but the jab is a death sentence. Please don't get it. I don't know the job market in Canada, but down here we are desperate to hire people. Look around. Look on job boards for remote opportunities. I've been working from home and love it. God bless!
It's pretty fucked as that goes, anecdotally, I've been applying for jobs for the better part of the last 2 years, I'm working still but trying to change. (I'm still lower experience in my field, so, I get I'm not the "top pick" for many of the attempts, just for perspective). In that 2 years I've had maybe 5 interviews and those didn't pan out.
The thing is, I'm noticing this massive disconnect where people I talk to are freaking out for workers regardless of field, but there just aren't any postings to reflect that need.
I've been told that in part their hiring means they need to pay back money as emergency over.
Regardless, the jobs situation is really fucked up in a way that is both inconsistent with the boom time I worked through and the crunch time that followed.
I don't know what you do, but if you're new in your field you might consider a new track. Here there is a huge need for skilled tradesmen. Electricians, plumbers, general contractors. The money is great. People are fleeing the cities, myself included, and the backlog for contractors is months out in the less developed areas. Just a thought.
Thanks, I'm relatively new in electrical engineering (not yet P.Eng). To give perspective, 2 years ago I would see about 10-20 postings per week with about half being pertinent or a slight tangent. Now, where people are clamoring for workers, now I might see 2 new postings per week. (It's not as dire as I made it sound, I have received tentative offers that would have needed a move halfway across the country, but after discussing with my wife opted out)
I know that money is good in trades, I did that for about 10 years and saved enough to go back to school.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW THICC I CAN BE, AND I AM ONLY GROWING. ;). I only asked here because I'm looking for some ideas on how to moose around it. If I can't, so be it. I'm not budging - I told them as much. But thanks! I needed that BDE.
In Canada, it will be a tough ride. If your job suddenly added it, you can argue that this was not part of your employment agreement to undergo medical procedures on their behalf.
I hate to say it, but we are so deep in clown world that you will have to fight for every inch, expect to be denied plane travel (which you can give a Notice of Liability to whoever denies you for that reason, when they find out that they will be individually liable for 5-30k of damages to you personally, they might let you slide through.
In that position, you're going to have to fight for every inch.
