I know we had spats in the past, but i support your decision and honesty about your experience. I stay away from as much social media as possible. Not because i am worried about being "verified" or being out of the loop, but i like living my life without it. It's simpler. If you don't know me personally and have the ability to judge me off of a simple comment, or worried about if i am a real person or not online, then what's the point of engaging? Wasted energy imo. The verification steps they take will never be foolproof, and its not like they take a psychological test either to prove you have good intentions with being on the platform. Plus most of the news that breaks on there is on here or other websites. I mean I am honestly not missing anything at all being on there, nor any social media site. It was fun when i was younger, but since i have passed all that, its kinda pointless. But if people want to enjoy it, i support their right to do that too. It's not perfect, and i don't think it intends to be, but it does need to be managed very carefully, and which i don't have the confidence yet that it is. I'd love to be a dev or content moderator though, lol, just to keep it honest and open since I don't approach issues from a partisan standpoint, but rather a logical and "does this benefit or harm others" point of view
No i get it, i totally do. That's why i stopped using it so long ago, i just hated to see what people would post, and how bleeding out emotions on the internet isn't good and may not always reflect what they really feel, sometimes it's just the rush of the moment. I never did it myself honestly, but the fact that i would engage more or less out of ego wasn't who i was either. I mostly stuck to posting either funny things or life coach type of material, but every now and then i would slip. Not only is SM prone to making your mind turn ADHD, it degrades your perception of people, even if it seems to be slightly justified. Most people aren't that fluent when explaining themselves online or understand the impact of putting their name out there when they go to post something, and how it can get changed around and twisted quickly. People suck, i understand, but they don't always suck.. i guess that's the best way to describe it lol.
