Very brave. Too bad they fought the wrong side and made the world safe for communism.
Until you realize that fascism is simply socialism of another name. Think about it. Controlling the economy to provide a quasimarket that can be sw00p'd right from under you should you not tow the line? A state that reserves the right to publish news and to censor opposing ideals? Plato's cave isn't one Iayer - it's multiple.
Both communism and fascism were bad. If anything, it may have been a ploy to ensure that whoever won would be celebrated, and is probably why in at least one speech, a prominent Nazi had sympathized with the Bolsheviks, claiming that they and the Nazis had more in common than the "socialists" of Europe. Probably why both Giovanni and Benito were both literal socialist cardholders at one time. Literal controlled opposition.

Their bravery, heroism and sacrifice can never be questioned. But what can be questioned is did they actually save the world, or did they only accelerate its doom?
Such heroes!!!
