It was The Weimar Republic that restricted gun ownership in Germany. Hitler restored it, and encouraged citizens to learn how to properly use their guns.
"Unarmed citizens" were not murdered by Hitler, and the camps were not meant for genocide. The most liberal estimates put deaths in the camps at somewhere between 275,000 and 300,000...95% from typhus.

The article you linked failed to describe the reason WHY Hitler prohibited Jews from being armed. It's because the Jewish bolsheviks/communists were attempting to overthrow Germany from within, and they were already proving themselves not worthy of citizenship from other violent actions. It was wartime -- there was no practical method of determining which were the communist Jews and which were the ones unlikely to be sympathizers.
The article mentions Kristallnacht, for example. There is substantial evidence today that Kristallnacht was a false flag perpetrated by the communists.

It has been many years since I have read The Hiding Place. However, I'm fairly certain there were sections where she discussed gas chambers, mass executions, etc. Those lies have all been debunked for decades, by engineers, chemical scientists, historians, and some Jews themselves.
Note that the link you provide for Ms. Ten Boom indicates she is/was an "activist."
Is it possible that her family was sheltering Jews? Possibly. Is it possible she was jailed as a communist sympathizer? Possibly. However, the rest of the book, the important parts implicating the Germans as monsters, can be summarily dismissed as fiction.
Another episode of Europa you would find enlightening is Part 8, which covers The Holocaust in detail.
That is ignorance at its finest, She describes no such thing: just overworking, starving and beatings. She doesn't portray all Germans as monsters, either- There is a sympathetic nurse who goes out of her way to help Betsy and Corry, and pays for it handsomely.
