Seriously. You know, we've learned in recent years that our own fat has the richest form of stem cells, more than 500x the amount that is found in the bone marrow. The dreaded abdominal fat area has what is called Mesenchymal cells which are the most potent 'all purpose' stem cells that can repair most all parts of the body they are placed into. When a plastic surgeon needs some fat to add to a person's face to increase its youthful volume, they try and take it from the abdomen for best results.
So, I've come to the conclusion that the 'fat' in an animal may be one of the best things to eat if you are looking for nutrition. The gristle is full of collagen, don't you know.
As kids, we'd fight over who got the fat and gristle from our mother's roast beef dinner. As I got older, I'd cut it off, thinking it was bad.
Now, when I eat a steak or bbq or other meat with the fat attached, I'm going to enjoy all of it, and no longer feel guilty.
Fat tastes real good and makes me feel full for hours.
Sugar tastes good but it is full of lies that cause diabetes.
Harvard scientists lied about this for 30 or 40 years and that’s why Americans are fat today.
Foods with good fat sources tend to be high in protein, as well, which takes longer to digest and therefore you are sated for longer.
Insulin makes you hungry, and sugars make you release insulin.
That's not to say carbs are necessarily bad -- they're fine in moderation and good if you are trying to build muscle or show off, though you have to know your body and how to time those.
I still remember 90s commercials for popsicles. "high fructose corn syrup! It's good for you, because it's from corn!"
Amazing, really. Corn syrups being used in everything from beverages to foods absolutely contributed to massive diabetes rates. They're calorically dense pure and empty carbs with no nutritional value.
Only value of corn syrup is for rare dessert use or if you need to burn carbs within 30 minutes or so for a workout.
