I'm getting tired of all the sensational posts without any sauce whatsoever that are making it less credible as a site I can share with people who genuinely want answers or are curious why I have hope that we can turn the ship around.
You should start blocking the accounts that make a bijillion posts. Then (in settings again) that list of users will be available to give to others, if you want. (You can also unblock anyone on the list, to start seeing their stuff again.) I was going to give up on the site awhile back, but finding the "block" function made it so much better. When I refer people here, I usually warn them about how they'll have to sift through a bunch of garbage and duplicates.
Thanks, was wondering how people normally do that. I always just used an inline html editor on my browser and manually added in the downdoot (href is there, just no text to click on) and will still probably continue to do the same as it satisfies my disdain for the post!
I'm getting cranky while I hold the line and want to take target practice on knuckleheads who post crap. Actual harmful crap that's baseless and indefensible. Not people I disagree with who present a solid argument and sources.
Agreed, some posts are purely bots or handshakes saying super lib stuff thinking this is a normal social media page. Those get deported but I would rather just downvote them and keep them here but let them know their posts suck… maybe they can change being here for a while.

If someone is genuinely putting forth an ill conceived idea I'll take the time like others have for me, but there's a LOT of nonsense now and even worse, too many posts trying to lead people to check out child porn under false pretenses.
I believe you have to go to "settings" and turn off community styling. Go back to the post, and the option to downvote should be there.

Took me about 6 months to see additional settings lol! Then today years old when i found how to downvote 😂

Turn off Community Styling in Settings.
Gear icon > Settings > Your Settings > 2nd down(on mine anyway) Community Styling.
I have mine off, I kind of like it better.
