It wasn't a "deep fake looking announcement", it was a straight statement by him himself.

It looked prerecorded, which is different

No at the time I remember the anon-analyses to be that it was either prerecorded months before OR it was a deepfake. Either the quality of the video was low or the visual artefacts in the video gave it away that it was a deepfake
