What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Get that fence fixed before material costs go up xD
I say that tongue in cheek, but my uncle's condoin Spain needs repairs but the other 3 condo owners couldn't agree on it. This last year, every few weeks costs soared and by the time they all finally agreed the prices had doubled. Every few weeks, a new estimate had to be redone to evaluate the cost and it got evidently more expensive each time...with only a matter of weeks between estimates.
Everyone put them off because of how expensive it was, and now everyone has to pay way more.
As for my weekend, probably taking my dad for some pickleball, and my brother for tennis.
Yep it cost almost $600 for one side of fence materials and we still have to buy the nails/screws. My husband rather use screws for the fence, but he's having some friends come help that build fences for work, and he said they will probably want to use nails to use with a nail gun.
I just hope this hurricane season is nice to us and skip us (just gonna say hope it skips everyone forever). Today we got such strong winds I thought a tree or two from neighbors yard were gonna come down on our house or shed. It blew me back a few steps at one point. I scooped up our puppy and said time to go in little stinker.
Yikes, that's a lot for materials. The nails are much quicker, but the screws are much more sturdy and will hold stronger and for longer, nails like to loosen over time.
Those strong winds are a force to be reckoned with. We had a few hurricanes hit the northeast where I live and even up here they uprooted trees and smashed them into homes, crushed cars, flying roof shingles were being flicked around outside, many homes flooded, tons of cars flooded out. Hurricanes are a spectacle to watch on video, but living through them is a totally different experience. It's intense, and the power outages for days after the fact are a whole problem in and of themselves.
Material costs are already crazy. Been putting off replacing a storm damaged fence for 5 months because of this and there is no end in sight to the price gauging on lumber. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and do it
Yeah there is no shortage either, this is the new normal.
Same with oil and gas. We are swimming in it while prices and profits are through the roof
