What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Haha I know! What I always use is http://flights.google.com
I've always found the best rates there and on the calendar, once you select the departure date, you can see the cheapest return flight in all of the remaining dates.
They always go through the airlines directly so you don't have to fight with middlemen like Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc.
Just know that the cheapest flights, economy basic, usually don't allow a carry-on, just a personal bag like a bookbag or something which is fine if it's a quick few day trip like a weekend. Always gotta check the specifics, I'm sure you know that but it bears repeating.
As always, check from multiple airports if possible. JFK airport in NYC seems to have higher rates to San Juan than EWR in Newark, for example. I can also check Laguardia but I like the rates I'm seeing from Newark and it's so easy to get to and from for me.
Thanks for the link! I'll try it out.
Yeah it's always cheaper to fly to and from Pensacola airport, it's also a small one so it's usually pretty fast to go through security and get your bags. We have only two airports that a the closest and they are both a good distance away from us. Somehow we always end up far away from any airports no matter where we've lived. That may be a good thing but it's kinda a pain driving an hour away to get to the airport, especially now with the gas prices as they are. Don't know what the rates are up in Jersey but down here I just paid $4.52 a gallon, so from 1/4 tank to fill up my car it cost me $52.63.
Haha just shy of $5 a gallon here. Think it went down to 4.87 in some places I drove by today. Hurts to pay that when your tank is near empty and you decide to mutter "FillitRegularCash" to the attendant.
An hour away isn't terrible, Bama is a big state, you could have been further. I've naturally drowned it out, but there is a lot of air traffic around here being in the crossroads of 2 of the busiest airports in the country and Laguardia to boot, plus one of the most active seaports in... Also all the sports teams with stadiums...the NY Redbull for soccer, Giants AND Jets for football, Devils for Hockey, and the highest per capita population state in the country along with everything else, traffic in general is pretty bad.
I'd love to see other parts of the country. I have been to Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Puerto Rico, but have never really been out if NY/NJ minus a quick trip here and there to get to an event. I want to see more! My friend just moved to Virginia, and the way he talks about it makes me really want to go.
My family traveled a lot between NJ & Fl (and different parts of Fl) all while growing up. When I married my husband was in the military, and you know how that goes, moving all the time, then his job out of military had us moving a few times, so I’ve never really grew routes anywhere except now in Al, where we’ve been for over 15 yrs now, it’s the longest I’ve lived anywhere. We have no plans to move from here.
I’ve lived in NJ, 4 different areas in Fl, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and in Alabama. Of course when we lived in Virginia we visited DC a few times. Visited Cali twice, it was pretty cool the first time because it was new, the second time not as much, best part was spending time with family. Visited San Antonio, Tx. Oh and we visited Los Vegas, to stay with some friends, which we had a wonderfully relaxing time. But we haven’t been on vacation in many years now, and we really need a break but with everything going on the last few years, there’s no way I wanted to travel with all the restrictions. Now husband started a new “retirement” job (you know a job after retirement, he doesn’t know how to not work, lol) and the fact we just got a new puppy a few weeks ago, vacation isn’t in the plans for awhile.
You should definitely travel through the US when you get a chance. Pick places you may have family and friends or maybe a place you’ve been dying to see.
