Not strictly true. More fuel means more weight. More weight means more energy required to move the mass. Probably quite negligible, tho. Would be interesting to see how much one would save over a year only filling to a quarter or half tank! kek!
I see your point but have a different method. I keep it full (above 1/2) at all times just in case they shut it all down or everything goes offline. π
Gas powered cars actually get better mileage with a full tank. With an empty tank the lighter components of the gasoline evaporate and MPG drops as the remaining heavier mix doesn't burn as efficiently.
but the fuel covers your fuel pump, at low levels, the motor (cooled by the surrounding fuel) overheats and over time will fail. So you do not want to maintain too low of a level. 1/4 to 1/2 would be fine, but you would always be buying gas, meaning buying high, and buying low. If you fill up, you might luck out when gas comes down, I'm all about minimizing how much I get robbed, since alone, I cannot prevent being robbed by my own government. We're all working on that one together.

I do the same, for the past year or so...

I've thought and wondered about this a lot.
Yet filling with cheaper gas now as opposed to when it's more expensive (future) would likely save money.
