Well, that might be true for some, but a lot of people are already at the breaking point with these gas prices. When you can't afford to drive yourself to work, your life is going to crash pretty fast. I just hope we don't all have to lose everything to get to the end of this tunnel.
I know. I took a look at my bank account today, and I'm running out of money in the middle of the month. Never happened before... I bought the same shit I buy every month, food, beverage, gas, nothing more and I'm nearly broke. German pede here.

You need a side hustle. Multiple income streams. A neighbor's grandson has a good job, but he has a weedeater and does ditches in my neighborhood as a side hustle. I do computer work and have put up a number of websites with advertising. I'm retired, but I have over a dozen small sources of income that add up.
I've also been buying groceries ahead, so I'm ahead of the inflation curve by over a year. I'm mowing grass with gasoline I bought last year.
Stop eating out, don't pay for TV (there's plenty of free shows online), newspapers, or magazines any more, and don't take vacations. If you must go somewhere, go on a day trip to a public museum or historical site that doesn't charge admission. Don't go to movies. There are thousands of free movies online.
Start a garden, even if you have to plant a vertical garden on a porch or patio. Greenstalk has the best planters, but Mr. Stacky products are cheaper. That's what I have for part of my planting.
We are now using our rotary mower!
I have an ancient one in an old outbuilding. I might have to drag it out and restore it. That's one of the advantages of living in an old family house. There's just lots of stuff everywhere. :)
We don't eat out, and we started planting like crazy. We don't spend unnecessary money, but this month, I just don't know what happened. We get a tax return this week, so we won't suffer a lot, but I have to keep track of spending money next month.
I bake my own bread, cook my own food, don't go to the movies, no newspapers, nothing.
When it comes to gas in Germany: a liter is @ €2, so a gallon is €7.56, $7.88. This is insane, I have to fill two cars once or twice a month.
We will survive this, and I know it will be harder in late summer, early fall. As I said: things will escalate quickly. Europe will suffer hard, the markets are gonna crash, we won't have enough heating gas in winter, food shortages will come.
We're prepared, I stocked up food a while ago, my mother in law bought a lot of wood for her oven to heat her house, so my guess is, in winter we will gather at her house, sit around the oven and cook meals over charcoal in a dutch oven. Let's see what happens. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt.
We way cut back on our spending a few months ago. Certainly not spending money they way we use to. No eating out. No running here and there in the car. One or two trips a week for errands. Nothing extra! Very little food waste. We have exactly nothing left to cut. I could definitely do without the TV but Mr. Airborne won't hear of it. Just going to the grocery store is painful and we have to eat! But eating a lot differently. Making my own meat pies, biskits, bread, and even refreshing leftovers. Ever eat Jambalaya with Broccoli? Not too great but ok. How long we can do this is the question. Gas is now at $5.49
Many will break because of the formula shortage. I belive anyone here would gladly skip a meal or two per day to keep their families fed if needed be, but to know that, regardless of what you do or how much you offer, there's simply no formula to be found anywhere, and your baby is crying from hunger in the crib. That's the stuff that drives even the most sheepish of normies past the breaking point.
Aren't there recipes for home made formula on the internet?
