Wrong, has nothing to do with knocking someone off. 😡
A promotion happens when a pawn gets to the back rank.
It signifies the pawn becoming a MUCH stronger piece.
While it can become any other piece except a king, this almost never happens. Almost always it becomes a Queen, the arguably most powerful piece on the board. Sometimes a rook, but we won't go into that.
This means our little @q has all grown up and become a major threat and critical piece: @Q.
This also happens late in the game, when defenses of your opponent have been broken and/or out maneuvered.
Typically when you reach the back rank, as you do it you literally are knocking someone’s piece off the board. Not killing them. Actually knocking their piece occupying that position off the board.
Nothing is absolute of course, the spot could have been already cleared off before, but usually the two go together.
It’s a chess thing. Called a promotion. It usually applies when you knock someone off.
This in combo with the “D5” posts is very interesting. D5 is a chess move in Sicilian defense, which is a trapping, defensive strategy in chess.
I foresee something interesting happening this week or next. The comms are getting spicy.
u/Boozy_McFuckFace Oh that's cool. Btw, your username is hilarious. 👌
