All these years diesel was artificially subsidised so that they could create two tier energy - one that can be priced up to hurt normal consumers while also making sure it does not affect the transportation industry. This gave the illusion that diesel was somehow superior.
Now the time has come to hurt the economy as a whole, including specifically the transportation industry, and everyone with diesel cars are going to feel the pain.
I thought the price was generally lower because it required less processing & generally assumed leftists decided to "punish" dirtier fuel & increased the costs through "taxes & fees"
I will need to do more digging. I love the power of my 7.3, first time owning a diesel personally & the added towing power is awesome.
When Oil was first refined in the 1860s the main ingredient was kerosine (diesel) for lamps. The byproduct (gasoline) was burned off as there was no commercial market for the product. Diesel is easier to refine than gasoline. In the 70s, diesel engines were being introduced into pick-up trucks and passenger vehicles because diesel was cheaper than gasoline at the time. The prices have now flipped with diesel almost a dollar more per gallon that gasoline. Supply and demand is still part of the pricing of both products.
Why? Growing up diesel was cheaper & far better milage.
Had a neighbor who tuned their VW & got almost 90mpg on highway consistently. It was crazy to see it as a teen.

I had read about diesel economics many years ago, long before I got redpilled. I would suggest verifying it independently.
