There's a reason most herbivorous animals have multiple stomachs, they get far more out of the greens then we do.

multi-compartment stomachs, but yes.

even then, though, they'll take meat when they can get it...

Ruminants don't eat meat (other than the bugs in the grass), just like cats won't eat salad.

I'm not saying it's a primary part of their diet, but it's not as uncommon as you'd think, lol.
