Skies are much bluer all over the west. Much less brown horizon smog. Hardly saw any contrails from big jets, only near big cities. Also seems generally cooler than last year. This is going to affect the "climate change" narrative soon.
Lack of contrails makes it warmer, not cooler. Interesting enough is that the theory was proven after all commercial flights were grounded for 3 days after 9/11. The average temperature increased 2C.
The average range difference between night and day temperatures was 2 degrees. Not the same. This article has a somewhat rambling explanation which could be clearer: https://globalnews.ca/news/2934513/empty-skies-after-911-set-the-stage-for-an-unlikely-climate-change-experiment/. And the theory that contrails have a warming effect has also been challenged: https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/climatechange/2009/05/911_contrails_study_challenged.html. His links are bad and the Beeb is suspect anyway, but it is true that three days in a relatively small part of the world is a very small sample. However, we have had less air traffic over a bigger area for months and we may be poised to get a better answer. This would be some real data for climate fans.
I was only commenting that the skies are definitely cleaner and bluer, though. Regardless of the effect of contrails, I blame planes most for the horizon smudge that has been increasing for years.
Whip out all your licenses and ratings one after another with no breaks in between.
I was a Captain for a regional airline and there were lots of people in their 30s & 40s that did this. Ex teachers, cops, construction workers, you name it.
I was in the airline industry for a long time.. Pilots make shit money to start, have a high divorce rate and shorter life expectancy.

Just for kicks and grins....how much is a plane ticket nowadays.
Depends on the route but my father in law flew from Pittsburgh to Orlando round trip back in February for $180 (including 1 checked bag)
I always wanted to be a pilot. But I'm 36 so I guess it's too late.
Hi, it’s never too late at all. You could be doing it within 3 years. Go to a place similar to this-

Not too late…former military guys are older when hired….but I wouldn’t recommend a job that is affected by oil, prices, wars, and the economy….
Make money and then buy your own small plane…
