Leave it to the U.S Military to plan for next centuries war instead of dealing with the current problem.
Would these Orbitally inserted troops technically be considered the Spec Ops of Space Force? Each branch thus far has their “own” branch specific special Ops unit. Sometimes multiple.
Do you know how expensive that would be to even send 20 space troupers into space and down on some target? ..let alone an entire army. lol
Not even necessary anyway. They would be practically undetectable at 100,000 feet (19 miles) Space officially starts at 50 miles up. 2.5X what's actually needed.
Complete waste of money and resources...but hey, it'll look good on Musks' resume'.
(Sci-Fi intensifies)

Space Force is still missing theirs though.
Welfare queen.

So would they be like the Asteroid Brigade? lol Seems kind of funny to me, dropping troops from rockets. How many can a rocket even carry?
Or maybe it'll be more like WWII Japanese manned torpedoes, one man per, but instead of blowing one's self up, they land.
I would think there's some double meaning here...
Why not just use teleporters, like they do on Star Trek?
It would be as realistic as dropping troops from space.
Red Bull had a stunt where someone skydived from space with a special suit. Why not?
