Anyone else feel like the DS took over Japan and made it their sci-fi playground? I never understood tentacle porn. I never could fathom the mind of the person that created such a genre.

This is the first post I've noticed about Stranger Things, or first recollect anyway.
I watched the 1st season awhile back not long after it came out and nothing since.
Seeing this then the Durham mention in the reference below I decided to go on and rewatch. Just finished S2, I'm not the best at seeing meaning, but S1 to me seemed maybe trying to smear MKU in with other farfetched material seemingly making MKU/mind control farfetched. S2 I'm not so sure, nothing jumps out, I'm just trying to get up the Durham reference, then 17 mentioned above.
S1 was pretty good, S2, meh, the biggest thing I like about it is the hat tip to the decade. I was 11 in '83 so I find it quite reminiscent, although do notice little bits and be like, psh, that's not 80s! Like the banana seat bike with 3 piece cranks, or the flint wheel guard on the Bic lighter. Bic's were even adjustable back in the day.
