The day my FIL passed, my MIL called us to say he was going. Got down to the house and he was alert and getting ready to eat breakfast. Went to the store to buy some Ensure per the nurse's request who was helping my MIL. 20 minutes later, I came back and he passed as I walked into the bedroom.
(First time I ever witnessed a death; you really do see the soul leave the eyes. I was awake at night reading a lot about this sort of thing for a couple of weeks after that. Not out of fear, but it does change you.)

Thank you Father for the Healing presence of your son Zev. He Honored Your Will here on earth and we are grateful for his life of Healing and Truth for his fellow man. 🙏🙌
Many times that happens before someone does.
A rebound surge.
That happened to a friend of mine. Very sick for awhile. Then the day before he died he was awake and sharp.
It's almost like his body gave up fighting and without that struggle he had a little bit of peace just before the end.

I've heard this happening with patients suffering dementia and Alzheimer's. They'll have final moments of clarity, but pass soon thereafter.
