Remember, (almost) all of the high tech stuff the military does is with academic/industry partners.

Sometimes you'll see stuff related to time travel (microseconds) or memory metals (that take a specific shape when a specific current is applied, made for crazy adaptive airplane designs, or artificial blood, etc.
