This meme made me laugh. I beg not too many POC alive today were ever slaves. Have they even gave two minutes to what it was like to be a slave? Every single day they were beaten within an inch of their lives??? Nope. I bet the owners were very kind to their "property". Wouldn't want to piss off the "hired help" because in the middle of the night that help would/could slit your throat. Slaves were expensive property and were treated well. Sure they didn't have running water in their huts, but they did have a roof over their heads instead of living in the jungle in a hut. Lots of things todays POC's never think about. But, such is the brain washing within our public schools.
I got one hair to split with you, although I agree that the mistreatment of slaves was exaggerated for maximum effect. A hut is still a roof over your head, that you likely made yourself. I would venture a guess that they were happy with a subsistence lifestyle as opposed to a life of forced labor. Personally I would trade a life of fending for myself over a life of servitude. That being said, there were no tractors and the British appetite for the agricultural products of the colonies was a more direct impetus for importing slaves, and it was black Africans that sold their brothers and sisters into it. If any group is mostly to blame, it was the Brits and Africans of that era. Blaming modern, natural-born whites is just plain ignorant.
I am not going to disagree with anything you've stated. You are correct with what the Brits and Africans did.
You make good points.
The slaves in my family lived about as well as my family. In fact, my father was born in a house that slaves used to live in. I try to visit it every year. It's been empty for decades, but the water pump outside still works perfectly every time I try it.
