My daughter is in Canada and was planning on staying there for another 6-weeks. She's leaving later this month. She loves the area, but is growing increasingly worried about the government. She said it's time to leave before it gets worse.
A friend of hers in Canada has been applying for a passport to visit the U.S.. Canada has virtually shut down passport issuance to Canadian citizens lately. He can't get a passport... at least it will take months if one is ever even granted.
That was one of the things that worried her into leaving now. Why would a country restrict passports and try to prevent their own citizens from leaving, even to cross a border and visit the U.S.? Bad things are happening when governments lock down their own people and prevent anyone from leaving.
The Pacific theater has been destabilized with Shinzo Abes assassination. Man was still fairly popular domestically in Japan and moderately well respected by other regional powers. Except China and the North Koreans.
Netherlands is more or less in chaos.
Sri-Lanka all but officially collapsed. Which runs the risk of prompting Indian intervention. As well as risks to nearby shipping lanes.
China is agitating and Sabre rattling even more then usual. With increasing speculation they were behind Abe’s assassination.
Most of Europe in general is reeling from shortages, skyrocketing prices. With similar Dutch style protests cropping up in neighboring countries.
France may have another round of major unrest in the offing with opposition parties. Still only a handful of the fringe parties. But they are demanding a probe in Macron and for him to resign over new documents that have come to light.
Russia is being Russia. Still acting just as belligerent as they do usually as far as foreign relations go. And taking victory laps about how they’ve beaten the West in Ukraine.
Germans are being told hot water maybe rationed. Some unconfirmed rumors report German Army vets maybe trying to form a modern incarnation of the Freikorps. They remain unconfirmed rumors at this time. Mostly just rampant speculation.
The U.K had its Government collapse with Boris having resigned.
U.S is falling apart at the seams.
Some speculation Canada is going to pull a similar Dutch Nitrogen move. Prompting yet more protests. Apparently they’ve also taken steps to limit citizens abilities to get passports out of Canada.
