In terms of athletics, when you "plant" yourself you are committing yourself to your next action. "Grounding" yourself in preparation for the next step. To plant, or stick, a landing means you are focusing all your efforts into following through with the motion.
One can say a plant is an investment, but one that we cannot expect to bear fruits immediately.
The cost of a plant which has borne no fruit cannot be recuperated. Either you stick it out until it bears fruit, or you cut your losses and try something else.
A "CIA Plant" is all the above. You need to give them sunlight (attention) and water (information/instruction), a place to grow (the [target]), and keep them safe (keep pests from eating them). Vigilant weeding (getting rid of obstacles) will be necessary.
Plants almost always produce leaves. Leaves, like pages in a book, are stories with unique signatures (veins on the leaf).
Leaves are stories being sold. You can smoke 'em (smoking gun stories), brew 'em (morning coffee/tea time AKA 4am talking points), grind them up for spices (flavor articles like "why your eyes get crusty when you wake up"), etc.
Cassidy Hutchinson is a plant. She was provided an opportunity, a space to grow in Trump's circle, and she took notes in order to form a story.
She told that story on the Jan 6th committee, and like a bunch of old farts smoking pipes chuffed with her bullshit, they got high on all the make believe thinking they were gonna take down Trump.
A "smoking gun" tale, it was not.
She's a shitty plant who not only didn't produce fruit (something they could use against Trump), but her leaves also smelled and tasted like raw sewage.
Something placed to facilitate another action or weight; might also be a leftist twit without leaves and flowers. But don't look too closely because some of them may well have leaves and flowers growing on them.
Plants are commitments.
They need time and a safe place to grow.
Provided with sunlight and water.

I work at a plant. We manufacture thingermagigers for the orthopedic and prosthetic industry.
