Amazing series. Truly believe there are some interesting coincidences. I see it as Jamie and Claire fighting the bad guys the entire time. They do not conform and Jamie becomes the enemy in order to out play the enemy. Just as I believe Trump has had to do in his history. I cannot wait to see how the revolution plays out in the next season. You are correct, the Rothschild mention was not in the tv show. Strange?
I hadn’t thought about the comparison of today and Trump. Great insight! I’ll be honest, I’m total fan girl over this series. The story just makes me happy. If I’m board I rewatch seasons 1 & 2. I just love the Highlander story. I did grow up watching reruns of Gone With The Wind on Sunday afternoons. I see a lot of similarities in the stories.
If you like to read & haven’t read the books I highly recommend it. It’s one of few TV/Movie turned to books I’ve that doesn’t venture way off the theme of the book. I’m buying the books instead of dealing with library because I’m a slow reader and didn’t want to deal with the mask issue. I went to the library a year ago & I was the only one not wearing a mask. Not worth it!
I’ve watched the series twice. Never disappoints! The beautiful cast helps as well. 😉
I wouldn’t be surprised if Gabaldon isn’t an anon herself! I think there’s some very telling story lines in this series.
The end of season two (I think) was a little rough. Some of the situations the characters go through are hard to digest, but the character development that comes from said situations is unbelievable and creates a whole new appreciation for them in general. If said characters didn't go through some of those situations the characters would be dull in comparison. Cant wait for January!! The books are so tempting, both spouse and I watch the show, and one of us isn’t a reader. If the current season book is read it would be difficult not to share.
I understand your concerns. I ignore the media and propaganda of celebrities. I started watching because I love history. I didn’t know it was time travel. That’s not the focus of the show. Scottish & especially the highlanders we’re very superstitious and believed most any of the ancient tales. I think the books do a great job showing this. I don’t see this as witch craft. Maybe pagan, it was everyone centuries ago, even in Christianity.
Basis of story and the reason Claire is a bossy woman. She time jumps from 1945 to 1745. She was a nurse in the war. The men have never been around that curses and won’t be told what to do. I can understand this and that’s one reason I love her character. I see a lot of the “non selfish” sides of Scarlett O’Hara in her, doesn’t help that she looks just like Vivian Leigh.
If you don’t like war, duels, foreign accents and history it’s probably not for you.
I’m not your average female, I’d rather watch medieval fight scenes than the modern cheesy romance flicks.
I’m glad I saw the series before reading the books. If you don’t know Gaelic, French and old Scottish you might have to look up many things.
FYI: lots to of sex & nudity. This couple has a very strong relationship. I guess that’s another reason I can look past her take charge attitude. As soon as they bond into a relationship I don’t see dominance between them. They are equals. Jamie the main character is pretty strong man inside and out. He goes through hell & is still a leader.
I don’t see the Scottish traditions as pagan at all. To me, it’s what the government purposefully took from clans and tribes. They didn’t want us to know what we are capable of, same goes with Claire’s healing and intuitions.
It’s not just a female protagonist. The couple in the series is really the “main” character. They are phenomenal together and are basically one. Claire is who she is, because of Jamie, and visa versa.
TV series never mentioned this scene I took the picture from the book. They were meeting with a Jew, Mayar about identifying ancient coins. Before he left they asked was that his given name. He said no, they aren’t allowed to give their name to people outside of the family. The family took the name on the street sign outside their house. I admit I don’t completely understand all this, books don’t always go into details. They are written in the time and it’s up to the reader to research further. This Jew character’s name was Mayer Red Sheild. Translation Rothschild.
(See pic)
I’m aware freemasonry and Rothschild’s existed back then. What I find interesting the TV series didn’t include this scene.
I didn’t hear about Freemasonry until this last two seasons (5 & 6) I started reading the books about a year ago. I’ve seen Freemasonry mentioned several times.
It’s not Q related. It’s eye opening for me. If I had not been here learning the Rothschild & Freemasonry would have gone right over my head.

I thought the series looked interesting, but I can't relate to a female protagonist at all, especially the way they are portrayed in modern media.

Jamie becomes a Mason along with his men while in Ardsmire prison after Culloden. In order to forge peace between the religious groups. Ugh.
Become your enemy.....?
