I'm mainly referring to the support staff positions (supporting the business owner); waiters/waitresses, cooks, stock people, warehouse workers, etc. Most of the "help wanted" targets. Those people were barely getting by before covid, and now, if they aren't working, where are they and what are they doing? If alive.
In my area they can't get by on what those jobs are paying. Rent for a one bedroom is $1200-$1500 a month around here. I think some are living with relatives rather than bust their butts for no payoff. I know a lot that are working remote rather then doing time clock jobs. I think in my area, blue collar petite have been priced out of the market. High school kids can only work after school, unless they're homeschooled like my kids. ☺️ Contrary wise, my comp sci graduate cannot find a job and she of her classmates have given up to get their CDL. I know that Ed Dowd said they're is 61,000 in excess deaths among working age people. My 18 year old just took over a job from a 22 year that died of a massive heart attack on the job.😥 So yeah, that's going to make some sort of impact. Those are my observations.
