Yes Direct Register them ASAP.
I don't know if TDA will automatically make a ComputerShare account for you, but you can also go to ComputerShare directly and buy from them if you link your bank account.
I checked very quickly and it appears that TDA will do a transfer, but I have to fill out a written request.
I'm thinking maybe better to buy directly from ComputerShare and use my TDA credit on something else

You can call them to initiate the transfer, and if they try to stall it, ask to speak to their compliance officer.
