H.R.6552, the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 just went up for vote in Congress on Tuesday. It passed with all Democrats and all but 20 Republicans voting yae. Among the 20 who voted nay were Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the bill does what the name suggests then why would they vote against it? Why would every democrat vote for it? There has to be something hidden here I am missing.
Can you guys help me find it?
I do believe they should receive financial compensation as well as exhaustive counseling due to what they went through, but the financial compensation should come from their abusers. If they aren't able to pay, then it should come from the government.
"...come from the government". You mean that we the taxpayers should pay for foreign victims of foreign criminals. Fuck no.
Keep in mind that they will just classify every child brought across our borders as victims of human trafficking. This way, the "dreamers" will be fully funded by taxpayers this time around.
