It gets better the more you reread them...I've read the first four books three times now. It is a slow masterclass on how populations are controlled and insightful about how royalty and upperclasses interact and how the webs weaved were necessary.
I've been reading Dune over the last few months, and there are so many amazing parallels to the great awakening, and the evils that are currently pushing their last blitzkriegs upon us, the common folk. I recommend it highly.
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
I have no problem with fear.
Anger and hatred on the other hand......................................
“The test is simple. Remove your hand from the box and you die.”
“What’s in the box?”
“Pain.”
I failed that test like 3 times now
lucky you weren’t gom jabbar’d
Haven't read the novel yet, but I did enjoy the new remake part 1
Yeah the new movie wasn't bad. It's missing a lot of stuff, but it spurned me into reading the novel.
I'm gonna have to read it now. Been thinking about it since the dune remake announcement
Do it! The first Dune novel is easily my favorite book of all time. The rest of the series is great as well.
I will! The dune mythos intrigues me, especially as a star wars fan boy. Love me some space fantasy adventures!
Frank Herbert's Dune was a huge influence on George Lucas when he created Star Wars, if you did not know that!
I did not! I always kinda had it in the back of my mind that the dune novels came after a new hope. But it makes sense. Spice is a drug in star wars as well so I knew there was some connection. Dune feels like starwars and game of thrones had a love child and I honestly enjoyed it
