It's really funny how much they try to make fake meat.
I had a mushroom burger recently from a local business, and it was delicious. It was definitely burger like, but distinctly a mushroom burger. It didn't try to replace meat, it didn't try to taste like meat, it was specifically what it was -- a mushroom burger.
I like a good veggie burger now and then if it's made from some good ingredients.
But even ignoring the proximity to abortion clinics and that whole debacle, I just don't see the point in trying to pretend something is meat -- in some cases tricking people -- to make a vegetarian burger that makes people think they're eating meat.
And to hammer in a personal point, I have eaten a few faux meat products because I felt the need to try it to ensure that I could properly criticize it; every brand had this weird subtle after taste, and it didn't taste like meat at all to me, and I did a blind taste test.
Doesn't end up being any healthier anyway because of all they have to shove in there to make it resemble meat at all.
Publix has a pretty big selection of all that fake meat stuff and I don't think it goes over really well here. ;)
I like veggie burgers and black bean burgers, but imitation meat not so much.
Yes this exactly. Bean based burgers also carry on flavors of spices and herbs very nicely.

"It's really funny how much they try to make fake meat."
Yeah, they try soo hard when all you really need is a cow, water, feed, and a nice pasture.
Like, why re-invent the wheel? I know, vee must eat zee bugs. Well, I'm not eating that, either.
I would have no qualms about physically assaulting anyone who tried to make me eat bugs.
I have had nightmares about bugs entering my mouth when I sleep various times since I developed a phobia as a child.
A fear and repulsion response on that level would absolutely make me feel cornered and violent.
If NuHippies wanna eat bugs they can go right ahead. I'll stick to meat with my girlfriend.
