While I don't see a problem with the advancement in milestones. Based on my experience in the wild, the column on the right exceeds the standards for a high school diploma most places.....
This is BS. Ive talked to teachers that say some kindergarten kids are not even potty trained yet.
Based kindergarten teachers all across the land must be like, "Brandon did you have another accident?"
We home-schooled up through middle school. Our kids did both columns, and then some, by kindergarten.
Just sayin'.
Edit: the content is where we really shaped values, sense of right and wrong and faith-based justice, and a sense of responsibility and accountability for oneself.
I started homeschooling my 1st grader last year this year I'm adding my 16 yo
Outsanding!
We were not in a position to homeschool through high school, but our philosophy was that if we could educate and shape our children through the formative years up through 8th grade, then they would be fine in high scool. And they were... like adults among children. And contrary to the stereotypes, our kiddos were very social and looked-to by others for leadership and direction. I am not trying to brag... just getting ahead of the usual judgmental comments : )
Keep up the great work. The best un-looked-for blessing is the positive effect on your family dynamic.
The problem I’ve observed probably the last 30 years is the reality versus the stated goals are light years apart. It is so far apart that if they went back to the basics of 1970, it would be a major improvement. But that would also require a return to 1970 community standards.
I teach a college class and many of my students wouldn’t be able to do those things. They can’t even use a capital “I” properly. Not to mention capitol letters for proper nouns, you know, for names and places.
I did both when I was in kindergarten in the 80s!
