Based on interviews done by people like Critical Drinker - its a mix of nepotism and corporate interests.
The corporations don't want risk or talent - they want people who are dumb, obedient, and "diverse". Furthermore - if you know the right people or close to the right family, then you can get yourself shoe'd-in to things like writing comic books with beloved characters whereas people with actual skill are barely even looked at.
Especially with streaming services and shows now, the drive is for more "CONTENT". There must be more. More and more quantity. The sheeple must consooom. The attitude is "Who cares? We need content. Throw in some 'member berries to play their nostalgia and they'll buy it".
Its a miserable state of affairs and its absolutely not working out for them. The money isn't coming in. Rather than course correct, however, they just double down and try to lure you to consoom without any care for the quality of the product - only that there is more product and that there isn't anyone else making a better one. Kill competition or buy it out rather than compete is the motto.
Yeah, I do but I'm pretty picky and don't just watch everything they slap out. Like my buddy tried to get me to watch 7 Deadly Sins but the characters being pervy was pretty cringe.
Cowboy Bebop, One Punch Man, Code Geass, Kill la Kill, Fullmetal Alchemist (both), SoulEater are some of my top picks though. OPM and KlK are better in Jap but the rest English is fine.
This ties in with the theory that most of Hollywood is gone. Maybe the folks who are still around and writing stories are not the most experienced.

Ah yes, I get more entertainment watching Critical Drinker and Mauler than I do actually watching modern cinema.
You should try anime. It's far superior to what we have in the west.

The new woke Thor has so much cringe dialogue that I can't believe it actually got released. Written by a 14 year old trans furry biologist.
