Guys, The street layout and all monuments and buildings are by freemason design right down to location. Its a grid pattern of designs. Not a secret, many docos on it out there.

As I understand it, the Freemasons weren't taken over at this point in time. It happened once Adam Weishaupt came on the scene:

sorry for the tangent, but it's incredible once you see what he did; the tunnels are measured a certain way, and they go from dark to light opening up onto George Washington.
