I was in a county jail... long story(this is early 90s FYI)... this guy we played spades with and talked to all the time went to court that day. Like 30-40 ish white dude. Little heavy set. He seemed nice enough, for someone you met in jail.

He comes back and they show on the 5-6pm news that so-in-so was convicted of raping a 10 year old girl blah blah blah. They show a picture of him. See he's not just accused, now he's convicted because he pled to a lower charge trying to get less time etc etc. So instead of just talking about it in vague terms they splatter his picture and say his full name, where he lived, etc, etc.

Dude went strait to the guards and they moved him to another block that holds people who need protections etc, like former cops and pedos. It seriously didn't take an hour and a handful of people wanted to know where he went. They were out for blood, like seriously wanted to kill him. It took a little time for it to build up. Everyone had to process it mentally and then they wanted blood, but he was already long gone.

Even when I was there I thought that pedos get beat up in jail stuff was crap until I saw it first hand. See the people that weren't after him were the short timers. You know the guy with 2-3 months for slapping his wife or not paying child support, or a DUI etc. Guys like I was that had less than a year some with less than a month. They stayed away. They have something to lose. The guys with 10-20+ years even with good time. 70-80% of them were like... where is that pedo?

Rapist, murders, people that beat up old ladies, drug dealers... NO problem. Pedo that raped an 8 year old... there will be blood. Its never about the charge either. They want to know what you did. No one gives a shit if you had sex with a 17 year old and caught a weird charge plus end up on a registry. Its when you fuck around with REAL children like 13-14 or younger they start to get crazy. The younger the victim the more insane they get. Or sane... depending on your viewpoint. :)
