I never had mine removed, and I think I have three (?) that are "impacted" and otherwise formed. The two on the bottom jaw are sideways, inside the gums, pressing against the teeth in front of them. No problems, and I'm 61.

Had one removed that was impacted, caused pain in tooth in front of it, once gone pain in other tooth went bye bye
