My point was that it is just as easy to bring a Dewalt cutoff saw with a couple 10AH flex volt batteries to do the same job. We use them to cut rebar on site all the time. And they can be carried in one hand, have their own power supply and are cheap.
That's why they welded them shut.

A plasma cutter takes about 30 seconds to make a hole
An angle grinder would also make short work of creating a passage
6" cutting blade on a 4 1/2" (corded) grinder is not bad.
NOTE: I am not recommending that you do this. This is highly dangerous.
A good plasma cutter will still walk off and leave you.
A battery powered cutoff saw wouldnt take much longer.
You have never used a plasma cutter..

I have a 60amp that will cut 1/2" steel all day long.
