I was thinking essentially the same thing! Money under the mattress, no trust for banks. Gee, maybe they knew something we didn't. I wonder if there's such a thing as a fire proof safe? Since keeping it in a bank means nothing in terms of hedging inflation, might as well keep it at home if you can (and you're lucky to have enough to worry about, lol)
All safes have fire ratings on them which tell you how long the contents will be protected during a fire. A lot of people have been buying gold and silver to protect themselves from the corrupt banks and governments.
Oh interesting, thanks.
In an emergency silver is best to be used as currency since people won't be able to make change for gold.
Yeah, I've wondered about that. I've heard there are bars that are perforated so you can break off a little bit. But I've also heard they are waaayyyy more expensive.
I have a fire proof safe.
Would you mind telling me the make / model? I'm curious because I thought I heard at one time that there really was no such thing, so it's good to hear they do exist.
I'll look and see but it's stashed so takes some work to get at it. I may be wrong but I can tell you it's heavy as hell, like it has major thickness to keep it from burning up. I'll get back to you.
Oh thank you. Don't go to any special trouble. I wouldn't have asked if I'd known it was in an out of the way place. Thanks though, fren.
Most gun safes are fire proof. We’ve had a Cannon gun safe for twenty years. When I found out it was fire proof hubby lost gun storage space. We need another one! It’s worth the investment. It took four strong men to get it in the house.
Thank you for that info. I do know they are incredibly heavy. And kind of expensive, too. But that is probably something a person could buy second hand, if they can find a good brand. Appreciate the comment, fren.
