In Anti-Federalist #40 Patrick Henry says about our Constitution..."What then are we to think of the motives and designs of those men who are urging the implicit and immediate adoption of the proposed government; are they fearful, that if you exercise your good sense and discernment, you will discover the masqued aristocracy, that they are attempting to smuggle upon you under the suspicious garb of republicanism? When we find that the principal agents in this business are the very men who fabricated the form of government, it certainly ought to be conclusive evidence of their invidious design to deprive us of our liberties. The circumstances attending this matter, are such as should in a peculiar manner excite your suspicion; it might not be useless to take a review of some of them."
I'm not sure what can be done (shy an act of God on our behalf) at this point to right the ship. I only point this out because so many people are still under the false premise that the Constitution is the answer when indeed every evil that the writers/speakers in the Anti-Federalist Papers (of which Patrick Henry was the most prolific) said would befall our nation have not only happened, but happened in spades...i.e. much worse that even the brilliant and vigilant writers of the Anti-Federalist Papers warned of!
There was NEVER a mandate by the Confederate States at that time to replace the Articles of Confederation. This is what we need to go back to...but alas...what needs to be done and what will be done are two very different things I am afraid...
According to Webster's 1828 Dictionary, Dr. Ben Carson chose the right word. Transpiring refers to things done in the public eye and there's a whole lot of sinning going on behind the scenes.
But I say this not to argue with you. Transpiring is the word the media likes to use in that spot and it would "sound better" from that standpoint.
