During our morning meeting over skype, politics came up, as it usually does (everyone is on the same 'side' except for me, but they don't know it because I keep my mouth shut)
These dumbasses were CELEBRATING student loan forgiveness, and CELEBRATING 87000 new IRS agents.
First of all, only 1 person on the call had any student loans. She was ecstatic that a chunk was getting "forgiven". The other guys were so happy for her - I was biting my tongue so fucking hard, because I've yet to go off on these people for their moronic positions. Come close several times. These dumbasses don't realize that THEY are paying for her loans (and me). These dumbasses couldn't even come close to figuring out that you don't need 87000 IRS field agents to target the rich. The IRS agents are targeting US, to pay increased taxes on top of already increased taxes to pay for our neighbors student loans (also, her loans have NOTHING to do with the profession she is in - shes a debt slave, and will be for decades, for indoctrinating her self and getting a garbage education that she doesn't even use that I now have to pay for.)
This is the same group of people where one of them bought themselves a new home, and the home's water came from a well - he was complaining that the well had no flouride, and planned to add his own flouride to the water, specifically for his kids health. The fluoride comments and the comments today they made celebrating all these garbage policies that are DESTROYING our way of life. I'm SICK of this shit, when does it end? These are people I consider smart, and yet they can't see the government placing shackles on their feet right in front of them. HOW did people get so trusting? These people are so trusting that their first instinct when they hear about 87000 new field agents is, "Finally, they are going after the rich for real!". Are you fucking kidding me??? You don't need 87000 agents to target the rich, they are collecting taxes for loan 'forgiveness' FFS
I’d upvote but your on the number. Good rant. Fortunately I don’t hold my tongue but use the rhetorical question format to make people think. “Since the Federal Government doesn’t earn money I wonder who is paying for the loan forgiveness, perhaps us taxpayers?”
Yeah I considered taking a more mild approach, but the thing is I never speak up during the little political 'discussions' when they take place, to the point where they have to assume the reason I get so quiet is because I disagree.
Asking even mild and innocent questions like that would shift their mindset about me into the negative for not trusting the govt as much and as blindly as they do. In their mind, and in their eyes, the govt is the source of truth and authority, OF COURSE the 87000 agents are for the rich, thats what they said!
You could go the OTHER direction with your comments... to make people think, while also reinforcing the belief that you are on THEIR side.
Say: "87,000 IRS agents? That's WAY too low. How are they going to increase tax money to make up for the $200 Billion loan forgiveness with that few auditors? That's only 1 auditor for every $2.3 Million in tax money that needs to be squeezed out of people. They need twice as many agents, so they can let them loose on EVERYONE. Anyone owing even a dime to the IRS should go to jail until it's paid in full." "I hope they draw names at random too and audit the hell out of every day people along with the wealthy to keep things fair".
:>)
Normies won't see as long as something is 'other people's problem'. Make it personal for them.
Good reframe there. Ask questions but don't reveal what side you are on.
Indeed!
It’s generally much better to keep people guessing what “side” you’re on, especially given most normies still don’t differentiate between Republicans and MAGA like we do here.
Although I usually keep my mouth shut, I often try to frame things as though I agree with them, while also handing out a red pill.
For example, when the loan forgiveness comes up inevitably at work, I’m going to say something like:
“I paid my loans off already, but I’m very happy for everyone who will be helped by this — this is one of the best things to happen for upper and middle class people in a while, and also for the schools too! Finally, the schools can raise prices and charge people more for the value they provide society, and the blue collar workers complaining about this raising their taxes and making college harder to get into, they just don’t understand how important higher education funding is. It’s totally worth it, if they’d just step outside their bubble to see it”
Of course, everyone here can see my sarcasm in that, but when you say it at the right time during the convo while everyone’s agreeing with each other, and you say it with total sincerity, it catches people off guard and leaves them none the wiser as to what side you’re really on.
Always ask questions and play dumb. That works the best for the dumb dumbs bc they’ve never thought that far. While they’re not the brightest, they can be hand held and walked along
That’s the trump card right there
We are living in the Twilight Zone. Crazy times. Sheep only follow their shepherd.
They'll be suffering soon when inflation hits the roof and the market crashes. Economy in a free fall and we go into a depression.
