California gubmint sez ... You can't buy a gas powered car ... also ... You can't plug in your electric car
🧠 These people are stupid!
And THAT is exactly the scheme.
California will suffer an energy shortage and “Flex Alerts” through Labor Day due to high temperatures, and residents will be asked to conserve electricity during afternoons and evenings, which means refraining from charging electric vehicles, among other uses.
From Jeff Childers, Covid and Coffee Page (full article link below):
“Houston, there might be a problem with this whole renewable energy thing. A new public announcement from California’s power grid operator warns that high temperatures are stressing the grid out, and consumers might have to reduce their power use during “flex times.”
During a Flex Alert, consumers are urged to reduce energy use from 4-9 p.m. when the system is most stressed because demand for electricity remains high and there is less solar energy available. The top three conservation actions are to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, avoid using large appliances AND CHARGING ELECTRIC VEHICLES, and turn off unnecessary lights. Lowering electricity use during that period will ease strain on the system, and prevent more drastic measures, including rolling power outages.
Let me translate: Stop charging those power-hogging electric cars or else we cut the power off.
It’s my seventh year of driving a Tesla. People ask me how I like it; I love it. It’s the best car I’ve ever owned. But — and this is critical — I’d NEVER recommend it as your only car. I live in Florida. The power was out for a WEEK after the last hurricane came through. The only thing worse than no power after a hurricane is not having a way to get around after a hurricane. It literally could be a life-or-death issue. Suppose you need to get to a hospital? Or to a hair sniffing event?
Electric cars are great when the juice is flowing. But when the government cuts off the juice, or when — as the California advisory says — solar power isn’t working, you just have to sit still. But at least you’re saving the planet or something.
Haha, that didn’t take long. Little Peter Buttigieg told Californians to just buy more electric cars to save money on gas, then two months later, they say don’t use the electric whenever it’s hot. Whoops! You didn’t notice that in the fine print? Suckers.”

There was a video recently of an Aussie who said he owned a house that he rented out for Air BnB. He said one of the guests had an electric car, that she plugged in overnight.
He had an app on his phone, which showed him the electric usage skyrocketed overnight, while the car was being charged.
He said that it used 200 kw of power for the charge. He also said that such usage could power a small strip center.
A few days later, I happen to have met a man who is a consultant to power companies. I told him this story, and he confirmed that those numbers sound right.
There is ZERO chance that "all electric" could ever work.
And [they] know this. That, or they are too stupid to run a lemonade stand, much less a power grid.
200kw = 240v * 833 amps!! No chance that Airbnb has 1000amp service. Realistic home charging is 11kw max.
Maybe he meant 200kwh. That is only double a typical high capacity battery and could happen over multiple days.
Could be. Maybe I heard it wrong, but I do remember the 200 and the kilowatt parts. Though, he did say it was overnight, not several days.

only with nuclear power, and even then electric cars have a lot of drawbacks that make them way inferior to gas powered vehicles.
Well if they take out the people grid it could work.
You are missing a key and even more insidious part of this equation. They want it turned off from 4-9 when EVERYONE IS AT HOME, BUT NOONE IS AT SCHOOL/WORK.
The industrial call center or tech research building is using an impractically incalculable amount more juice then everyone at home, yet they dont want Google's spy bases turned down. (The argument "cooling 1000 sq ft is easier than cooling 10 100 sq feet" doesnt hold water when you add in things like servers and data centers, vending machines, the countless thousands of computers, microphones, and screens, the fact that windowed walls allow in much more heat than solid walls, the sheer amount of wall to wall lighting and outlets)
Its about devaluing your life, you cant accidentally hear wrongthink if you cant turn on your TV or computer. Your teenage son cant run across Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro, let alone the truly based, if his brain is too hot to function and he is cut off except for his government mandated indoctrination.
Electric cars are great as long as you don't drive anywhere more than 50 miles away :)
