My family suffered a lot in the war and I was brought up to hate Germans. I watched the War at War series to get an insight of what they went through. Then there was a day long broadcast to commemorate the holocaust victims on tv called Shoah, Laurence Olivier did the voice-over. It was harrowing. There were no commercial breaks, just sombre music between the episodes.

I was stunned and started reading stories, accounts, watching movies and identifying with the victims. Then I came across a video of David Irving talking about visiting Germany after the war. He rightly said most historians regurgitate stuff without going to original sources, as he was able to do. He was given letters and documents that set him on his quest for truth. Talked about attacks and pushback, being arrested etc.

Then I saw the video of the young Jewish man who spent 3 days going round Auschwitz. He examined everything, asked questions and got some interesting admissios from the man in charge. Ernst Zundel joined him and they both discusses their findings. I was won over and started my own research. The report as to why gas chambers could not be used in the USA sealed it - far too costly and dangerous. Needed to be hermetically sealed, have a very sophisticated extraction system and VERY tall chimneys to prevent accidental gassing. No tall chimneys on reconnaissance photos...

What really clinched it was a mockumentary on UKIP: the actress doing the voice-over used the same sneering, disdainful voice Olivier had used. Boom. Also a visit to "Schindler's factory" in Krakow: I asked where the factory was and got and angry "What factory?" response from a woman. Realised she was right - it was a work of fiction. The genius scene at the end of all the survivor's descendants leaving commemorative stones at Schindler's grave in Jerusalem made it all real. We bought it. Then I remembered the OTT portrayal of Germans in The Boy In Striped Pyjamas...

My eyes were opened and I dug, reappraised and realised it was all very sophisticated propaganda. Remembered how many old Poles I'd talked to said they were relieved the Germans arrived in their area instead of the Russians. War brings out the worst in many, but I now firmly believe the Germans were stitched up in WW1 and after WW2. Yes, atrocities happened but I don't believe the death camp scenario - the evidence is not there. The holohoax the the motherload bringing in fat profits: misery lit, movies etc. The fact that you are forbidden to question it is a huge red flag.
