It may go to Charles for a short stint, but I don't think he will last long. It looks to me like there are some forces pushing for William to be King ASAP. "Queen" protects the "King" may refer to Charles getting cover while the Queen was alive, but losing his protection (and his position) once she is gone.
Both king Charles and Prime Minister Liz Truss will not last very long.
