It would explain why the satanists like to start wars and blow things up on 9/11.
Has anyone ever researched if there are records of when Herod ordered the slaughter of the boys 0-2years old in Bethlehem, in his attempt to kill Jesus? I've never heard of any research into that despite having grown up in the church. Based on when the Magi saw the star and began their journey I believe was Herods reasoning for killing those under 2 years old. I would agree too that historically, would the shepherds have been in the fields in December? I don't know, I would guess Israel is warmer than the northern hemisphere in December. I know we have general dates that place Christ's birth between 2-4 (based on when Herod ruled, and other historical data)

My opinion about the shepherds: Israel's land is different than what we usually experience. We think sheep grazing in a large open grassy field. But Israel was rocky and the vegetation was scarce. The time there was grass in the grazing rocky areas was determined by the rain season. The grass was more abundant in the Spring but by winter, the grass in the highlands would be depleted. So the shepherds would bring their herd down to the mainlands. To the fields. What fields? The crop fields. What land owner would allow a bunch of hungry sheep destroying it's crop fields? After the harvest (late Sept, early Oct) to work the land and fertilize it. (I do this every year with my chickens, after I harvest every thing, I open the fence and let the chickens have at it.) We have to be careful not to put our American or European (King James translators) experience into the Biblical Text, it was a different time frame and different culture.
Absolutely! We are rural and do the same with our critters as do all the local farmers. Cultural content is of absolute importance or one won't understand what the biblical authors intent was, and authorial intent is paramount to biblical interpretation.
Jesus was crucified on Passover. Put in the grave on the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Rose from the dead on First Fruits (just after the Sabbath). His life revolved around the Festivals. So it always made sense to me that His birth (and 2nd coming) revolve around the Festivals as well. Would He be born on just any day? Either the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Trumpets (both close to each other in the Fall) seem logical to me.
Most likely Trumpets as it's the first in the 'old year' - before Exodus 12:1
Trumpets have always been used to herald the birth of a new prince, it is also the 7th Trumpet of Revelation 11:15 which announce Christ as King ove the kingdoms of the earth.
Tabernacles is the final 'harvest' of the year Barley in the spring at First Fruits, Wheat in the early summer at Pentecost and finally soft fruits at Tabernacles.
As to a date in September very difficult to say as God's calendar moves around, based not on the Jewish insertion of interlocutory months, BUT God bringing the Barley Harvest to fruition before the start of the first month (commonly called Nisan) so that the Sheaf Offering Leviticus 23:9-14 can be made, if the barley isn't/wasn't ripe by the end of the 12th month then an extra month was added.
God is in control.
That's right about the Barley Harvest, they followed a Lunar calendar (at least until the Babylon??) but that would just catch them up to the Solar calendar? (I wonder if the Flood had messed up the sync between the moon and the sun's cycles)
Trumpets does make sense. Tabernacles fits because of things like the swaddling clothes (retired priestly robes used to make torches during Tabernacles) plus Tabernacles being 8 days long (so a child born the first day would be circumcised on the last day) point to Tabernacles, plus "dwelled among us" in John 1:14 is the word "tabernacled--lived in a tent" with us.
But the two are close together, related, and I do lean towards Trumpets because of its royal symbolism.
Trumpets also lines up with the understanding that this also related to the creation of the heavens and the earth.
Jews today celebrate Trumpets as Rosh HaShannah the new year - this despite God having told Moses Exodus 12:1 that the year starts with the month in which Passover falls, commonly called Nisan (Babylonian name) God refers to moths by numbers. But then the church has us celebrating Christ's birth aligned with the Babylonian mid winter feast of Mithras and the rebirth of the sun, so we cannot be too hard on them!
Jews have the extra-Biblical feast of Hanukkah also termed the 'season of our joy' and 'season of light' Jesus the light coming into the world, which I have taken to be the time when Jesu was incarnate of Mary. The Hebraic Roots chap, Ed Chummey posits this, and as I recall points to the Zacharias meeting with Gabriel at the announcement of John the Baptist - Zach being of the priestly order of Abijah, and in Chronicles David schedules when each priestly group is to serve at the Temple, with all divisions sending priests for the three main gatherisngs of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles, his view is that this would have been Pentecost, Zach return Elizabeth falls pregnant and 6 months later - Hanukkah Mary comes with Jesus in her womb.
Genesis 7-9 clearly demonstrates the 360 day year, and my assumption has been that the flood did indeed change the cycles. The prophetic 360 day, 12 x 30 day months remains for porphecy purposes and many fail to take this into account.
Good stuff. Also David setting up the priests into 24 groups, then we have the 24 Elders in Rev 4:4.
Christians miss out on so much meaning when they ignore learning about the Festivals.
I'm not Messianic but learn so much from them and Hebrew roots. Then share with my friends who don't get this stuff from our local churches here.
Thanks for you reply and its good to find another believer who understands the significance of the Leviticus 23 Feasts and how they set out God's plan for the redemption of mankind.
I first became drawn to understand about 25 years ago, and though I have tried to engage other Christians too often the just take the 'that's OT law and has ceased' line - though some are happy to come to Passover Meal, they at least can connect the Passion to Passover, but cannot get engagement with a Pentecost or Tabernacles meal.
My wife and I try to keep to the Feasts and weekly Sabbath but it is not easy with a deep rooted Christian gentile mindsets which need constant guarding so not to forget.
Your first comment did spur a new thought that the 24 Elders relate to Peter's 'Royal Priesthood' and Rev 5:8-10 and I wonder if come the Millennial Reign if the world will be ordered and managed under 24 regions, so Christ >> 24 Elders >> Nations >> County >> City >> Town, with each 'King & Priest' ruling over a number of these 'administrative' areas per the minas of Luke 19.
That's pretty cool to think about.
What is Tishri 1,3 B.C.
This just feels right....I can’t explain it, but it does.
Thus has been my feeling for sometime now.
