What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Thank you. I do take magnesium but not that much. Maybe I should up mine.
Here are some benefits of regular Magnesium ingestion that you may find interesting:
Magnesium breaks down the Calcium molecule making it much more readily absorbed. Most foods are 'supplemented with Calcium' for some reason, and Magnesium will be able to take that Calcium, break it down and put it to good use.
You see, Calcium molecules are quite large and often cannot escape the blood vessels and arteries to permeate through them to go where needed, unless teamed with Magnesium. This free-floating large-molecule Calcium (absent adequate Magnesium supplementation) may be the ACTUAL CAUSE of calcified plaque. In fact, if you've been told to supplement with Calcium but are not taking Magnesium with it, you are likely causing more harm than good.
Thus, after ingesting regular and 'enough' Magnesium, the calcification in the vessels and also any calcified nodules that exist will begin to dissolve, rendering cleaner vessels and an improved calcium score. You will find that your lab work reveals a new 'increased blood calcium level' following ONLY Magnesium supplementation, allowing you to cease calcium supplementation altogether.
Also, Magnesium helps the gall bladder release bile, aiding in digestion and elimination and rehydrating the digestive tract, allowing those who are generally constipated to get relief and normalized bowel functions.
One measure of how much to take - start with a low dose. Take nightly to aid in sleep, as Magnesium relaxes stressed muscles. Over time, increase the low dose until you develop too-loose bowels. That is your saturation point. Once this happens, back down the dose until your bowels move daily and comfortably - but not to excess. This is your target dose. Stay with that until you need to increase or decrease as your bowels dictate!
Good luck!
One question what type of magnesium?
Magnesium glycinate,, citrate or oxide?
I prefer Magnesium Oxide. I order mine from C_stco. They also sell the Citrate, but it doesn't work as well for me.
Try both and see what works best for you.
I use the oxide thanks yet again.
Wow thank you so much. I am an herb not pharma person. I was taking only 250 mg. I am going to up this. I didn't know you take it a bedtime either. Thanks for the great information and keep me posted on any new findings.
You are welcome!
