Look into natural family planning. When practiced to the "t" it is very effective. It's basically understanding the femaile body's signals relative to when she is ovulating, thus allowing her to abstain from intercourse for 72 hours (roughly). No chemicals. No tools. Just observation and knowledge.
Agreed. Not fail proof but can and does work for women with pretty regular cycles. My daughter couldn’t tolerate the hormonal birth control and there is a 7 year gap between her 2 littles. Used to be called the rhythm method didn’t it?
She used an app to help her track fertile days so I know there is one out there….
If you look into it, don't be scared offby its affiliation or tie to the Catholic Church. They approve of it because they are against birth control. So, ina way the fact that the Church endorses it is proof that it all natural... and it is effective. If memory serves me right, it was and maybe still is referred to as the rhythm method. Anyway, if you're anti-church, don't let thatsteer you away from a biological process, is all Iam saying : )
Penny Royal or Queen Anne's lace. They can be found growing along side country highways at various times of the year. Research well before contemplating usage. But they do the job.
You asked for natural birth control, I answered; ps It is a life at conception so be wise in all things.
I could also tell you about herbs to help or regulate your cycle, but I would not want to distract you from looking at your app for wisdom with my middle-ages nonsense.
I have no info regarding Natural Cycles but I'm sending my thoughts and prayers for your gradual successful weaning off the Lexapro 😊 There are also condoms, diaphragms and spermicides as an alternative to BC - better than the nothing method 🙈
Even using an app is more or less optional or a back-up. There's actually a pretty well-developed body of knowledge on all aspects of Natural Family Planning.
Essentially it is based on to learning to know your body. It can also have a desirable benefit of bringing couples to a deeper mutual cooperativity and respect.
Read The Mood Cure so you get the info on amino acids to use wirh the gaba. You will be astounded at how the amino acids vary in the emo issue they address!! Great book. Changed my life.
I couldn’t take the pill. I got the worst migraines. This was early 90s. I tried over the counter stuff for women. It worked but i had issues. I also got the depo shot it was nice but made me angry all the time. Finally we decided on condoms until he had a vasectomy. (About five years later) We were finished with kids. I didn’t know natural medicine existed back then. It’s an alternative until you find what works for you. The worst part is buying them in public with a baby. At first I felt trashy. Finally I didn’t care!
Look for an herbalist or naturopathic doctor. They will probably be able to help.
I’m sure my husband was glad when I got off. We hadn’t been married long & worked nights & sometimes different shifts. Back then we both left our clothes on floor a few days. Sometimes I wanted to wrap his underwear around his head. Not literally. It would make me so angry & neither of us are that, especially to each other. Birth control side effects are the worst! I don’t understand why so many women use it.
Re the natural birth control "timing". The 72 hr window is not really long enough. Sperm stay alive and viable longer than people realize. Also don't ever use "pulling out" as a method. There is sperm in the natural lubricating seminal fluid too.
My wife and I discussed what we would do for birth control before marrying. We decided that we did not want her on any sort of hormonal birth control, so it left the following options:
No birth control of any kind.
Condoms.
Copper IUD.
We've been using condoms ever since our wedding night. They have been effective. My next step is to get a vasectomy, if I can justify it.
A lot of Asian women who tried to control their reproduction uses IUD. Leave it and forget it until you want to have a baby. I know it is a pain to go through a small procedure to get it in and out but better than drugs or hormone or side effects.

Yes, exactly. Thanks for the post.
Ohh I’ve never heard of that!

So like what they used in the Middle Ages?

I have no experience with herbs but did it actually work back then? I’d rather take herbs than medicine tbh
Queen Anne's Lace still works today but research it, it is a morning after pill not a contraception
I heard something about Neem Leaf. Idk I’m gonna stick with BC I’m too young to make a mistake rn

Thank you. Lexapro has been a wild ride. I’m going to be tapering off of it and then switching to GABA.

Thank you for the information. I just don’t trust my doctor. She’s not even like a gyno anyways.

Excellent book!

Oh my gosh Depo makes me cranky/angry and moody all the time! Maybe I should go off of it 🙃

What about the implant? Is it any better?
IUD is not an implant. It's just a piece of plastic inside the uterus.
I don't trust any kind of implant.
Oh I was talking about the implant that goes in the arm :) is an IUD worth it? I’m starting to hate Depo and it made me bloooow up like holy shit!
Talk to gynecologist. I don't trust the implant.
I had the implant—- it’s still hormonal birth control like the pill or depo.
