Aside from MSM, most every demographic has their own networks and information sources, including blacks. Early Covid reports had blacks with relatively higher mortality. Accordingly their info networks emphasized greater need for protection against Covid early on. It took a while for further information to indicate this apparent truth was largely due to less Vitamin E which has largely been borne out by evidence, such as there is. So a lot got the first message and never dug deeper.
While that has nothing to do with masks, it has to do with different information networks and different sets of trusted sources. Anyway, that's my theory. But anybody you ask could vouch for themselves, and would have a tough time vouching for an entire demographic. You could probably say the same for seniors, and Asians- their information sources will largely indicate their behavior.
That is very true. I had a friend that told me he would get the vaccine even though I was telling him it was a bad idea. His reason was because blacks were more susceptible to the virus than white folks like me. At the time I didn't know if that were true or not so really didn't have a argument against his reasoning.
He was in poor health already, but he died just a few months later of a heart attack. I never knew for sure that he took the vaccine since I had moved away and only had limited phone contact with him, but I think it probable.
