Edward the Seventh is a 1975 British television drama series, made by ATV in 13 episodes. Based on the biography of King Edward VII by Philip Magnus, it starred Timothy West as the elder Edward VII, with Simon Gipps-Kent and Charles Sturridge as Edward in his youth.
King Charles seems to rip a page from the script and recite it for the whole world.
Edward VII had a rather racy life and a very short reign, because like Charles his mom lived so long. Very appropriate, I'd say. Charles is like the dog that finally caught the car after all, and after all these years of dreaming that he'd save the world as king, it turns out that being king is giving a lot of boring speeches.
It's also possible that the tv script used the actual original speech by King Edward VII, and so Charles re-used the same speech from their archives without realising that it was used in the tv series.
Below is the text of the statement issued by King Edward VII on the death of his mother, Queen Victoria, which was read out in the Houses of Parliament on 25 January 1901.
The King is fully assured that the House of Commons will share in the deep sorrow which has befallen His Majesty and the Nation by the lamented death of His Majesty’s mother, the late Queen. Her devotion to the welfare of Her country and Her people, and Her wise and beneficent rule during the sixty-four years of Her glorious reign will ever be held in affectionate memory by Her loyal and devoted subjects throughout the dominions of the British Empire.
So, the answer would seem to be, Charles the Turd ripped this from the TeeVee.
