The only impulse I feel sometimes, especially with purchasing items is...spending all our money on things like new(er) vehicles, any off grid items, clothes/shoes...basically whatever will work and you may need or want, in a world completely flipped over, and the current money not worth anything anymore. So in short, to spend all our cash before it’s useless.
I don’t give in to these worries though. Because I give trust into the Lord that whatever happens, we’ll be ok. An extra gun won’t help, or months of food. Not when you can be just as easily killed for your goods. I was at work several months back when it kinda shocked me what a guy had said. Now understand this guy is like a Davy Crockett. He’s a survivalist. Hunter, fisherman, not someone I would want against me in tough times where people could be fighting for food. And he said, clear and with a straight face. That if I run out of anything, it’s all those other people who prepped their food and ammo I’ll be taking from. I was like “what? seriously?” He said of course. I could have one gun, with 6 shots and take everything that man has. I mentioned “well I’m sure they’ll be armed to.” He just gave me that look and smiled. “I’ll get what they have.”
This is kinda the way I see how things could go. This man wouldn’t hesitate on killing someone, I don’t think. And he be good at it. He’s whole life is based on hunting and various things. It’s kinda why I’m not really into prepping food and ammo. I trust in God to see me through. There’s no way to prep for everything. But you can be prepped with the Lord. Having salvation and total faith in Him. I’m not gonna kill people who want my stuff more than me. I’ve decided that if anything, I’ll give it all away to whoever needs it. If me and my family are starving in the middle of a cornfield...we’ll, then let it be so. I trust in Gods will.
If you homestead but have a new vehicle, you're still on the grid.
Oh I don’t care to get off the grid really. I was more or less referring to, spending the cash before I use it for fire tinder. But I’m not gonna do that either. Because, even though it would be cool to see, I don’t think the financial system will ever fall far enough for people’s cash to become non existent. The system may make it difficult to use for sure, that’s already happening. But worthless, naw. Not in my lifetime I don’t guess.
After the worldwide bank crash is over (beginning now) we'll be forced to go crypto/cashless for about 4 years, after which a new in-hand currency will be reintroduced.

It definitely feels we are going that way.
