Sorry, but we're NEVER going to "end homelessness." It's not just a matter of money, there are many reasons people are homeless, and much of it has to do with unpredictable human behavior. Some people are willing to sink to the lowest level of existence as long as they can eat every once in awhile and find a place to sleep. I've met and known these people and they think differently from the way we do. Never forget, Jesus said that the poor will always be with us.
Good points and I fully agree. If the government thinks it can at $20 billion though, it puts into perspective how much we’ve sent to Ukraine and shows naive liberals that their government has never cared about poor Americans.
Well they "cared"... but only because they were a good mascot for raising campaign money and as a "cause". ... whom they promptly forgot about after the elections.
Even thinking of the problem domestically raises red flags. How much does the government spend on homelessness annually?
"The National Alliance to End Homelessness calculated that, in 2021, the U.S. federal government enacted over $51 billion in funding for selected homelessness and housing programs. This, of course, does not include city, county, or private dollars invested in homelessness and affordable housing as well."
A lot of people feel bad for the homeless because they believe the homeless are the same kind of people they are. But they're not like regular people. Homeless people are usually on drugs and have some kind of mental health problem, perhaps caused by drugs. Every so often a regular person gets down on their luck and ends up homeless, but they can usually pull themselves out of it so long as they stay away from drugs and stay focused on improving their condition.
We will always have the poor, because they are unable or unwilling to change.

This is absolutely true.
